Bonnie's Bio

From the early age of about six, I recall my mother taking my sister and me fabric shopping at Comal Cottons in Corpus Christi, the Sparkling City by the Sea…yes, I am a beach baby! Mom made all our clothes and had the patience to teach us. We made Barbie doll clothes and then began to make shorts and tops for our summer wardrobe.

I have been sewing for about sixty years now, and my passion has turned to quilting and embroidery. My first quilt was a strip pieced quilt and from there I was hooked. Only until recently when I retired from the corporate marketing world, have I been able to focus on quilting and have discovered embroidery. I enjoy not only making quilts, but like to make purses, place mats, table runners and other small projects.

I’m a sixth generation Texan and have lived in Central Texas since 1974, and in Belton for nearly 20 years. My forty-four year career was spent in the advertising and marketing world of newspaper, radio, television, and promotions. I am the mother of two wonderful sons with awesome wives, and the Bebe (grandmother) of five beautiful grandchildren. In addition to my part time job at Temple Sew and Quilt, I balance my free time between grandchildren and time in my Happy Place, my sewing room with my new Bernina 790 Plus
